Kabupaten Jayapura,Jelajahpapua.com – Tim Opsnal Paniki Polsek Sentani Kota bersama personel piket dan Pos Pol Pasar Lama Sentani berhasil menangkap seorang pelaku pengerusakan rumah dan pencurian di Kompleks Sil, Jalan Sosial, Sentani, Kabupaten Jayapura. Pelaku, yang diketahui berinisial YEE (20), ditangkap pada Selasa (25/3/2025) sekitar pukul 10.00 WIT di Pasar Baru Pharaa Sentani setelah sebelumnya melarikan diri.
Kapolres Jayapura AKBP Umar Nasatekay, S.I.K melalui Kapolsek Sentani kota AKP Sundari, S.Sos menjelaskan, Aksi pencurian ini pertama kali diketahui oleh seorang saksi, Sung Kyu Choi (52), yang mendengar suara kaca pecah dari rumah milik seorang warga negara asing, Mc Farlane Bradley Jhon (55). Saat diperiksa, kaca jendela rumah tersebut telah pecah, dan tidak lama kemudian, pelaku terlihat keluar melalui jendela yang telah dirusaknya. Sadar aksinya diketahui, pelaku segera melarikan diri ke arah belakang SMP Negeri 2 Sentani dan menuju Pasar Baru Pharaa Sentani.
Mendapat laporan dari warga, Tim Opsnal Polsek Sentani Kota segera melakukan pencarian. Kurang dari satu jam setelah kejadian, petugas berhasil mengidentifikasi keberadaan pelaku dan langsung melakukan penangkapan di kawasan Pasar Baru Pharaa Sentani. Pelaku yang tidak memberikan perlawanan langsung diamankan ke Mapolsek Sentani Kota untuk menjalani pemeriksaan lebih lanjut.
Dari tangan pelaku, polisi menyita berbagai barang bukti hasil curian, termasuk satu kalung emas, beberapa gelang dan anting-anting emas, serta sebuah dompet berisi barang-barang milik korban. Hasil pemeriksaan sementara mengungkap bahwa YEE merupakan seorang residivis yang sebelumnya pernah menjalani hukuman di Lapas Kelas IIA Abepura atas kasus pencurian kendaraan bermotor (curanmor). Diduga, setelah bebas dari lapas, ia kembali melakukan aksi kejahatan di beberapa lokasi.
Kapolsek Sentani menambahkan bahwa pihaknya akan terus melakukan pengembangan kasus ini untuk memastikan ada tidaknya keterlibatan pelaku dalam tindak kriminal lainnya. Polisi juga mengimbau masyarakat untuk tetap waspada dan segera melaporkan jika menemukan aktivitas mencurigakan di lingkungan sekitar.
